1. MSM-03 Gogg The original amphibious mobile suit fielded by the Principality of Zeon during the One Year War, manufactured by Zimmad. Debuting in episode 26 of the original Mobile Suit Gundam, “Char Returns”, how can you NOT love this thing? Zeon was playing with equipping mobile suits with beam weaponry, but they still hadn’t miniaturized it enough for a standard MS to use, and they still had no real way to deal with the heat. The Gogg admirably solves these issues by being thick as a brick and using seawater as a heatsink. Thus, the Gogg is the first mobile suit fielded by Zeon capable of utilizing beam weaponry in the form of two belly mounted mega particle guns. They tend to be portrayed in a scattering manner akin to the scattering beam gun of the Dom, only capable of inflicting real damage (technically speaking, the Dom was the first Zeon MS to use “beam weaponry” but its so weak all it can do is dazzle optics). It is also armed with twin torpedoes mounted adjacent to the mega particle guns in the abdomen, iron nails on each hand for tearing shit apart, and twin phonon maser guns mounted on the sides of the head. The head can also deploy the Freezy Yard, an anti-naval mine gel via an ejected capsule. It has very thick steel armor, and tends to be much tankier than its peer ms both in animation and in games. It had passive ballistic armor in MSGO, which could be stacked with an underwater armor trait and its higher than average health pool to allow it to take some insane punishment on water maps. I’ve included an ancient image of a Unicorn I smoked way back in the day after they were foolish enough to drop into the water. It was also more than serviceable out of water, harassing enemies with fast locking, solidly damaging torpedoes and shredding enemies up close with the shotgun style mega particle cannons. I still miss that damn game, I’m begging you Bandai please give me an equivalent again. Nothing else will ever scratch the itch!
